Today saw the first of the month-long series of formation workshops for those parishioners who currently, or who wish to, proclaim the Scripture readings during Parish liturgies.
Today’s two sessions at St Mary’s, Newcastle, are the first of thirteen hour-long sessions providing an opportunity to reflect on the nature of this particular liturgical ministry and the Parish’s current practice.
Ongoing formation for any ministry, including liturgical ministry, is an important means of continuing to ensure that our liturgical celebrations – and the evangelisation that can occur with well-celebrated liturgy – is of a high standard.
Those who attend one of the sessions and who subsequently wish to continue or start proclaiming the word during Mass will be commissioned into that role for the next two years.
Further information about other available sessions can be found by visiting the Parish’s Eventbrite page.
