Jesus asks the question that cannot be answered second-hand: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter finds his answer–and discovers who he is called to become. Perhaps faith begins there: not simply knowing about Jesus, but allowing our answer to shape the way we live.

In today’s Gospel, a determined mother refuses to be silenced. Her faith crosses boundaries, challenges expectations and opens the way to healing. Jesus reminds us that God’s mercy is never ours to ration–there is always room at God’s table.

The safest place in life’s storms is not the boat–it is the outstretched hand of Christ.

“Jesus takes what seems too little, blesses it, and feeds a multitude. Bring him what you have–your time, your faith, your worries, your hopes–and trust that, in his hands, it will always be enough.”

A pearl. A treasure. A net. Jesus uses ordinary things to reveal an extraordinary truth: life with God is the greatest treasure we will ever find.
