As I approach my ordination to the priesthood of Christ on the 23rd of November at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the readings for the Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time resonate deeply with me—particularly the essence of true generosity.
In the Gospel, Jesus highlights the poor widow who, despite her poverty, gives all she has; what a profound example of self-giving. This act challenges us to examine our own motivations and the nature of our contributions—not just in material terms, but in the context of our very selves.
I am reminded that my vocation should be rooted in the selfless love exemplified by Christ, embracing the call to give oneself entirely for the service of others. Just as the widow’s gift, though small, was of immense value in God’s eyes, I am called to offer my life and ministry with the same totality and openness, trusting in God’s providence.
What does true generosity look like in your own life, and how can you embody that spirit in your daily actions?
