In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus uses the images of a buried treasure, a pearl of extraordinary value and things brought up from beneath the sea, to point us in the direction of that which is the greatest of all treasures, something hidden from human view and understanding for countless eons. Its the essence of eternal life found in the teachings and person of Jesus Christ.
