In the Transfiguration Jesus gave an indisputable demonstration to His disciples that He was indeed the Messiah. That as the Son of the Father, He was Lord of the Old Testament and the New. It was the reassurance they would need to face the looming crisis and test of their faith they would undergo when they arrived in Jerusalem for the forthcoming Passover festivities.
